The leading expert on debt settlement compliance and regulation will provide a timely update on what every attendee needs to know to run their business in a safe and compliant manner. Mr. Birnbaum, the President of the American Fair Credit Council, will review the current status of state laws, consumer protection, the approaches and what to expect from the CFPB, FTC and state regulators; and the latest licensing requirements for the industry.

Greg has spent several months updating the “Regan Report” data through September 2014 (the
original report concluded with data ending December 2012) and will be presenting the updated data and conclusions, which indicate even stronger industry performance than originally found. Will Dobbie addressing his recent research into the effect of the “pay for performance” model in the debt settlement industry. -

DBA Industry Certification: “Why it’s critical; the benefits to your company and why it’s important in a Legislative and Regulatory Environment”
Jan and Brett will be discussing why the Debt Buyers Association developed a certification program for its members and has made it mandatory based on feedback from federal regulators on policing its members to gain creditability. They will cover the importance of associations taking this step and how it will affect their members working with debt settlement companies.
