Message from Denise Dunckel

Denise Dunckel joined the American Fair Credit Council (AFCC) in January of 2021. A seasoned veteran of the financial services industry, she has held senior roles with multiple private sector organizations and several government agencies. Her career has covered a diverse range of subject matter in the financial space including credit cards, financial literacy, technology-based data security, interchange, taxes, mortgage finance, and single-family rentals in federal and state legislatures, while spanning government appointments, public affairs, corporate advocacy, issues management, as well as corporate communications.

Ms. Dunckel has worked in leading positions in public affairs and communications at Visa Inc, Invitation Homes, and HouseCanary. She served as Vice President of Public Affairs for the Beer Institute, a national trade association for the American brewing industry representing large and small brewers and industry suppliers.

Additionally, Ms. Dunckel served in the administration of President George W. Bush in the Office of Presidential Advance at the White House, as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education, and as a Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She was also the Senior Associate Director for congressional affairs and communications at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

After a 17-year career in Washington, D.C., Ms. Dunckel moved to Louisiana in 2018 and began working for the Louisiana Department of Insurance as a Deputy Commissioner for Public Affairs.

Ms. Dunckel is originally from Dallas, Texas, attended Baylor University, and holds a B.S. from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. She is married to Paul Morse, whom she met while working at the White House for President Bush. They live in New Orleans with their golden retriever Millie.
