Heartburn Avoidance “What every owner needs to know about the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)”
In 2013 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) amended its Telephone Consumer Protection Act to prohibit dialing systems – like the ones you probably use- from dialing any cellular phone numbers or sending text messages to consumers and to existing
customers. Since the amendment took effect, there has been a significant rise in TCPA lawsuits and class actions filed against debt relief providers for using the most typical dialing systems and marketing techniques. For 18 years, Robby Birnbaum has been helping his clients with TCPA compliance deal with and prevent claims on these exact issues. Learn exactly what you need to know about cutting edge developments and technology to avoid such claims, how to stay out of the line of fire, and keep your response rates where you need them. You will learn about the plaintiffs and lists that will help you avoid them, and how to balance compliance with your dialing systems and lead providers. -

KEYNOTE: Debt Settlement and Ohio: Are We In or Out?
Join Senator Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati), sponsor of Ohio SB 226, and Kurt Leib, AFCC lobbyist and a partner in Capitol Advocates, for an in depth discussion on the challenges associated with passing legislation to authorize and allow debt settlement services in the Buckeye State. They will share insights into the process involved in advancing legislation in the face of stiff opposition from the bankruptcy bar and credit counseling industry – presently the only options available to consumers with crushing personal unsecured debt burden. Sen. Seitz, a practicing attorney, has broken ranks with many of his colleagues in the profession who maintain that providing debt settlement services constitutes the unauthorized practice of law. Ohio is the only state where this unique argument intended to keep debt settlement out of the state has been raised.
